DD1101 - Assignment 11 Multi style character design

Assignment 11 - Multi Style Character Design
For this assignment I was asked to create 3 designs of the same character, in 3 different styles; these styles were to be based upon that of the artists: Sean Galloway, Ashley Wood and Marek Okon. These artists have significant differences between each of their styles which is what will make this assignment the most difficult, as I will no doubt be able to imitate the style of a particular artist well whereas for another I will have a lot of trouble.
Sean Galloway is a cartoon style artist that uses a simplistic style that exaggerates all of the characters he draws to mirror their personalities; for example: when he draws a more devious character, he will make them far more skinny with an angular looking face to give the impression of fragility but also an evil mind, whereas when he draws a strong character he will exaggerate their proportions excessively to show clearly how strong they actually are in comparison to others.
Ashley Wood has a more complex drawing style, as she has a balance between realism mixed with a style that shows brush strokes; as her style has a sense of realism its already difficult to imitate, but with the inclusion of the painted style that she employs to create her art, this makes it even more difficult as their is a certain abstract choice that comes with her colour palettes for each piece she designs.
The final artist is Marek Okon and his style is by far the most realistic of the three artists as it relies on the realistic use of light and colour to show detail and give the piece more texture. His style would seem like the most difficult to follow but as I am trying to push my own style more towards realism, this style is good practice for me as it allows me to look into how lighting and colour is very important to make realistic pictures look right.
